In late Autumn 2005, a small project was launched to engage young people in the use of multi-media technologies. Young people were involved in filming, downloading footage onto computer and editing high quality video productions. A number of titles have now come out of this project. These are available for viewing below - or, if you want the full hi-res/hi-fi experience, come in and see these titles on our projector system here at mp33. Use the links below to open up the videos up on a new page with further information. We will continue to upload more video as time goes on.
The Film Factory, a weekly multi-media workshop/activity session, takes place every Friday evening from 6-8pm. It is a highly creative learning opportunity for young people and the session is attended by 8 regulars. The Film Factory held a 20 minute showcase of their filming and editing before Christmas 2008. The house was packed, with an atmosphere of morbid anticipation of cinema in the Horror genre, Zombie sub-genre, supplemented by a few little, often comical, twists. There was also a preview of some CGI work being done for a Sci-Fi short, due for completion in Spring 2009. In 2009, the group will be holding a second showcase during the Arts in Merkinch Summer Festival. Ferry TV was a young people's video project, and includes a number of interviews conducted with young people, and young people interviewing local people in the Merkinch area. It also features footage of some of the activities the young people are involved in with mp33 and the area they live in. Ferry TV (part 2) is currently at the planning stage. A group of women from Merkinch & South Kessock, known collectively as The Escape Group, took up the challenge to walk up Ben Nevis in 2005. This video charts both the training and the day of the challenge, interspersed with the women relating their personal experiences of working up to the challenge. The Escape Group travel to Wales to tackle the highest mountain there, Snowdon, in mid-Summer 2007. Not strictly speaking Ferry TV at all, but a charity fund-raising cycle up to the West Fjords of Iceland. This would be an ideal activity for any interested group of young people. A fortnight away from civilisation! Great Wilderness Challenge 2005 Not Ferry TV either, but Ross-shire's premier charity event.
